Pavlov's Dog 2000 encompasses a blend of original material combined with a new spectrum of music. This electrifying, unique sound is Pavlov's Dog 2000.

The webmaster of this site recently obtained a copy of End of the World. This is his review of the CD.
I have always been a big fan of the original Pavlov's Dog and still am to this day. I wasn't sure what to expect from this CD, given that only one original member, Mike Safron, is present and the "voice" of Pavlov's Dog, David Surkamp, is nowhere to be found. However, I was pleasantly surprised.
The sound of the group is vaguely reminiscent of the original Dog, but not so much that it is an obvious rip-off. Gone is the mellotron which has been replaced by a synthesizer and the violin is still present in several of the songs. Mike Safron has commented that people have mistakenly thought that David Surkamp is singing on the CD. Again, there is a vague similarity here as well. Even the ending to the song End of the World borrows a riff reminiscent of the end of Natchez Trace from the first Pavlov's Dog album.
The CD is actually an EP that clocks in at a little over nineteen minutes. All of the songs are original compositions by Mike Safron with the exception of You've Really Got a Hold on Me, which is written by Smokey Robinson. However, this is an entirely different version of the song. Every song on the CD rocks and I find myself regularly listening to it straight through, since there is not a bad song in the bunch.
Bottom line: I like the CD. If you have the chance to get a copy for yourself, by all means, do so. You won't be disappointed. Those of you who already have a copy of this CD, hold onto it since there were only 1000 copies pressed. It is sure to become a collector's item, just like the original Pavlov's Dog albums.
I spoke to Mike Safron in September 1998 about the PD2000 CD. He noted that this CD was recorded in five days and mixed in two days. As noted, he said his goal was to recapture the sound of the original Pavlov's Dog.
take a ride on my motorcycle
don’t you worry ‘cause
I’ll be beside you
feel the wind just
blowing in your hair
take a ride on my motorcycle
take a chance and see the star light
fire in the sky
feel the power of my love for you
I hope you never say good-bye
(chorus)... fly
like an angel
when you spread your wings
I can feel it baby
fly
as we ride on through the night
It’ll be alright, just feel the wind
feel the wind just
blowing in your hair
magic love will fill the air
I waited so long
to see your face again
I know I did you wrong
I never ever found the time
to spend with you
but now I’ll carry on
(chorus)
take a ride on my motorcycle
take a ride on my motorcycle
(chorus)
feel the wind just
blowing in your hair
magic love will fill the air
take a ride on my motorcycle
take a ride on my motorcycle, cycle...
END OF THE WORLD
It’s the end of the world
you know it
It’s coming fast
It’s the end of the world
you know it
It’s coming at last
If I offended you
It’s just that I see the light
never wanted to hurt you baby
never wanted to fight
hear the children crying
I tell you they don’t need that
another time of confusion baby
when we both get into
our deadly kiss
(chorus)...It’s the end of the world
but not the end of the world
if you left me
if you left me
pardon me if I ask you
why you wear that mask
of a sweet little angel
you’re the devil in that
mask, mask, mask
(chorus) Repeat First Verse
love’s just an illusion
you know I’ll never miss
another time of confusion baby
when we both get into
our deadly kiss
(chorus)
LIES
wasting my life believing in you
all the hurt you put me through
telling all my friends
bad things about me
bad karma will come back to you
(chorus)...whose been telling
all of those lies
whose been telling them
sad goodbyes
you run if you can
you run and you hide
whose been telling
all of those lies
mixed up little girl
mixed up little mind
can’t you think
to be a little kind
find what you’re after
but leave us alone
if you can’t
call me on the phone
wasting my life believing in you
all the hurt you put me through
telling my friends
bad things about me
bad karma will come back to
you, you, you
you try so hard just to start a fight
my friends think you’re in the right
maybe you’ll win, maybe I’ll fight
whatever, you’re the
devil in the night
(chorus)
TAWNY
(chorus)...living in a fantasy
thinking she will be with me
standing out there in the rain
people tell me I’m insane
but I need her
I need her oh so bad
when she’s gone and
I’m feeling oh so sad tonight
another day maybe I’ll be alright
If she comes to me
I know I’ll live my fantasy
Tawny don’t walk away
(chorus)
and I watch her as she
dances in the night
like an angel haunting me
and I can’t go on
I need her oh so bad
everytime I see her
only if she comes to me
I know I’ll live my fantasy
Tawny don’t walk away
but I need her
I need her oh so bad
when she’s gone
and I’m feeling oh so sad
Repeat second Verse
don’t walk away,
don’t walk away, oh yeah,
don’t walk away, oh yeah,
Tawny don’t you walk away
don’t walk away, don’t walk away
Tawny don’t walk away...
YOU'VE REALLY GOT A HOLD ON ME
I don’t like you but I love you
seems like I’m always
thinking of you
even though you treat me badly
love you madly
you’ve really got a hold on me
you’ve really got a hold on me baby
I don’t want you but I need you
don’t want to kiss you
but I need to
even though you
do me wrong now
my love is strong now
you’ve really got a hold on me
you’ve really got a hold on me baby
I need you
all I want you to do is hold me
hold me
won’t you hold on baby
won’t you hold on to me
just a little tighter
I’m gonna leave here
don’t wanna stay here
not going to spend
another day here
even though I want to split now
just can’t quit now
you’ve really got a hold on me
